No Chemistry, No Identity: Cavs Face Early Crisis as LeBron, Knicks Hit Town

Too soon to panic?
The Cavs are lifeless. They lack ball movement, chemistry, an identity.
As James Harden said after Wednesday’s loss to the Thunder, “We’re eight games in and we have to start figuring it out soon.”
This weekend, the Cavs (4-4) host LeBron and the 76ers (7:30 tonight) and the Knicks (8 p.m. Saturday) at Rocket Arena.
It’s supposed to be a marquee weekend.
It’s also an early test that could determine whether coach Kenny Atkinson makes it to December.
Yes, Peyton Watson and Jaylon Tyson have missed time with injuries, and Jarrett Allen has dealt with knee issues.
Meleek Thomas and Mario Hezonja have excelled.
The team has bigger issues:
Donovan Mitchell and Harden pound the ball into floor rather than involving Allen and Evan Mobley.
Sam Merrill has struggled shooting, because a motion shooter in an offense with little motion.
The Cavs have a negative rating with Harden, who gets targeted by teams on defense. Yet he leads the team in minutes played -- at 37 years old.
The defense is in the bottom-third of the league. The turnover rate and defensive rebounding are worse.
More than their record, it’s how they play – and Atkinson will be on the hot seat if it doesn’t change.
🏀 What is the Cavs’ biggest problem right now?
Ohio Leads Data Center Revolt: Blue Wave Brings AI Bloodbath

Tuesday’s blue wave has triggered a red wave that has left AI investors crying the blues.
Across the country, voters backed ballot measures imposing moratoriums and limits on new data centers.
Ohio led the charge, with 21 of the 41 such initiatives nationwide.
It has resulted in a stock bloodbath: data-center operators are down 15–30%, and semiconductor stocks have fallen 10–25%.
Roll the Data:
After inflation and the Iran War, data centers were the top voter concern —especially in the Buckeye State.
Ohioans were outraged in May when the state disclosed that tax breaks for data centers had cost nearly $1.6 billion in 2025, 12 times original projections.
Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown both campaigned against data centers, making the state less hospitable to them.
Goldman Sachs estimates that states where Democratic wins could produce tighter rules or temporary moratoria account for 45% of planned U.S. data-center capacity.
Ohio alone represents 5% of that national pipeline.
⚡ How did you vote on data center measures, or how would you have?
40 Years Strong: Cleveland Cinematheque Screens Classics, Cult, and Cutting-Edge

It’s one of Cleveland’s great cultural institutions and a film festival that runs the entire year.
Willem Dafoe, John Waters and Peter Bogdanovich have all attended screenings.
And the Cleveland Cinematheque is still going strong at 40, thanks to director Dave Huffman.
Since taking the job in May, he’s mixed classics, cult rarities and the latest in independent and international cinema.
“I love the classics and foundational films,” says Huffman. “But I also love the weird and strange and new movies -- and using my marketing background for audience building.”
This weekend, the theater will cover all the bases:
Queen at Sea: The Cleveland premiere of the haunting U.K.-U.S. film that won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. 6:45 tonight and 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
The Devils: The area debut of the restored and just-released version of Ken Russell’s 1971 psychological horror classic. 9:15 tonight and 6:50 p.m. Saturday.
The Postman Always Rings Twice: The 1946 film noir based on the novel by James M. Cain. In 35mm. 9:15 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Whip It Good: DEVOtional Returns to Celebrate Akron’s Robotic Rock Legends
Wait, I thought Devo was kidding when it proclaimed that humans were devolving?
We’re doing exactly what the legendary Akron band imagined.
Even the band’s fans are going backwards – to celebrate the heyday and music of Devo, and the wacky hats, yellow jumpsuits and other weird get-ups the band used to wear.
Whoa, it’s DEVOtional.
This weekend, the annual celebration of all things DEVO hits the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern – Friday and Saturday.
The bash features bands and guests from around the country and movies that pay tribute to the robotic rock, anti-Darwinist ethos and pop stunts of Devo – including co-founder Jerry Casale. Info.
VINTAGE CLEVELAND
Short Vincent, 1954 — where downtown legends were born. The 485-foot strip of bars, restaurants and clubs running between East Sixth and East Ninth streets was the epicenter of city nightlife. It all disappeared by the ‘80s.
