They thought they could get away with it. Unfortunately for them, there was a camera tracking their late-night heist.
On Tuesday, Parma Police announced that they have caught the culprits of the Pink Flamingo caper.
Colin Donald Deka, 20, and Jack Christopher Klamert, 21, both of Valley View, have been arrested for stealing the iconic flamingo statue located on the corner of Broadview and Snow roads.
According to a PPD statement, “Detectives obtained video footage and observed a white Ford Escape pass through the intersection at approximately 2:40 a.m. [Saturday] and park in the Arby’s lot located at 1441 Snow Road.”
They observed the two men exiting the vehicle and loading the flamingo into a car. Detectives then viewed several traffic cameras and obtained the license plate number of the getaway car – and traced it to a home in Valley View.
After being confronted, the suspect was cooperative, and the flamingo was recovered – except for one foot, which broke off and was still affixed to the podium.
Deka and Klamert will be arraigned in Parma Municipal Court on June 24.
Pink flamingos have become kitschy mascots for Parma, due to the popularity of plastic flamingos as lawn ornaments in the 1950s and 1960s, when the city enjoyed explosive growth.

Brook Park has joined the chorus singing the praises for NASA Glenn Research. The city has passed a resolution calling on President Trump to move NASA’s headquarters here.
NASA Glenn is a “world-class institution advancing the aerospace and aeronautics innovation mission of the United States,” states the resolution.
Brook Park council and mayor Edward Orcutt join a broad coalition of politicians lobbying the administration to bring NASA HQ to Glenn.
In January, it finalized a contract with UK-based aerospace company Blue Abyss to build a commercial astronaut training and research facility along Aerospace Parkway.
The $250 million joint project with NASA features a 200-foot deep, multi-level pool that simulates the conditions of space and deep-sea exploration and a hotel to house astronauts and scientists. It broke ground on April 3.
The resolution comes amid proposed budget cuts that would result in a 38% reduction in the work force – and a loss of 554 jobs at Glenn. The cuts haven’t deterred officials pushing Trump to relocate NASA HQ to the area, when its D.C. lease expires in 2028.
“I will continue working with Governor DeWine, my colleagues in Congress, and the next administrator to expand Glenn’s footprint and propel the agency into the future,” Republican Congressman Max Miller said in a statement.
Budget cuts underscore the cost-saving appeal of Glenn. As we reported in March, the contrast between the cost of living in Cleveland and D.C. is staggering: You need around $5,596 here to maintain the same standard of life that costs $8,900 in D.C.
Ohio leaders will meet with D.C. lawmakers to advocate for NASA Glenn and its workers. On June 21, Stand up For Science will hold a rally in Cleveland on Saturday June 21 to protest the cuts.

Midnight drag-racing in Cleveland’s Lee-Harvard neighborhood led to a hail of bullets and residents running for cover. By the time it ended, seven teens were shot.
Cleveland Police are investigating a shooting spree that occurred on Sunday on the East Side.
According to a CPD press conference, officers were called to Lee Harvard Shopping Center after reports of drag racing. More calls arrived, claiming gunfire.
By the time they got there, they found more than 100 people were gathered at the plaza – including three 18-year-old women, two 18-year-old men, a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman.
The teens were rushed to the hospital by EMS and cars for non-life-threatening injuries.
Cleveland police confirmed that the Shaker Heights Police Department had stopped a vehicle with three people inside that were present at the shooting.
Five guns were recovered from the scene, according to Deputy Chief Jarod Schlacht.
Residents, Mayor Bibb and members of Cleveland Council have called for more policing of the shopping center, which is often used for late-night drag races and gun violence.

The NFL can be a cruel game, and cruel business. Nick Chubb, one of Cleveland most beloved athletes in decades, is a Brown no longer.
Chubb has signed a one-year deal with the Houston Texans after a stellar career whose final two seasons were hobbled by a devastating knee injury in 2023.
Drafted out of Georgia in the second round in 2018, No. 24 enjoyed five brilliant seasons as one of the NFL’s premier running backs.
He rushed for 6,843 yards – third most in Cleveland history. What might have been had he not been injured.
More than that, he was humble and hardworking – a quiet leader who eschewed grandiose displays after touchdown runs. He embodied the famous NFL creed, “like he had been there before,” and fans loved him for it.
He was the heart and soul of the team.

Ty Jerome’s dismal performance in the playoffs sparked speculation that the team would let him walk in the off-season. Not so fast.
The Cavs’ announcement that Darius Garland underwent surgery on an injured toe that hobbled him at the end of the season makes Jerome a near-certainty to return.
Team revealed that Garland will miss 4-5 month and “is expected to make a full recovery and resume basketball activities by the start of training camp.”
The math doesn’t add up. Camp starts in early October and his recovery would likely result in him missing the first 10 games of the season.
Enter Jerome, who served as Cleveland’s backup point guard, is a free agent. Despite his failings in the playoffs, he had a career year in which he was a finalist for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award.
The Cavs could give him a four-year, $63 million contract, including a first-year salary of $14.3 million. Because the team is over the luxury tax threshold, signing him could result in a tax bill of $80 million.
