Get witchy: Cleveland’s most unique museum will put a spell on you

“What’s the point of collecting weird stuff if you don’t get joy out of it?”
Director Steven Intermill provides the answer – a devilish laugh – as he leads a couple on a tour of the Buckland Museum of Witchcraft and Magick.
Opened in 2017, it’s the area’s and one of the world’s most unique museums.
Located in Old Brooklyn, the shrine to all things occult has been hailed by The New York Times and Esquire – and its Raymond Buckland Collection is considered one of the most significant in America.
Some of the artifacts were even shown in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But the museum is also a joyous, riotous adventure through witchy pop culture.
It boasts an array of skulls, art, masks, statues – even a wand once owned by infamous occultist Aleister Crowley.
Some are beautiful and mysterious, others titillating and irreverent.
“I grew up on healthy diet of comics, Black Sabbath, classic Hammer horror films and Crowley books,” he says.
He never imagined becoming Steve the Warlock.
“That’s what they called me when I was brought on a sports talk show last Friday to lift the curse on the Browns,” he says. “I realized it didn’t when the fans were all negative about the team.”
A MESSAGE FROM FOR BETTER

Nominate your favorite local businesses to take the pledge. And help grow their business through the map, and get a better community! It’s a win-win!

For fifty years, the Great Wolf Tavern attracted long lines for its legendary fish fry. Even after it closed in 2005, the Darwal family’s recipe was copied by bars and restaurants.
Well, the Wolf of Cleveland is back – in spirit and in name.
“I wanted to up open a neighborhood bar after retiring,” says former Brook Park firefighter Bill Bennett. “As it turned out, the original sign was in the back storage, and the name was available.”
This Gray Wolf is located just north of the original spot in a red brick building that features an immaculate classic bar, bottlecap stools and wooden floors – and will soon feature the iconic Z-shaped sign.
It celebrates its grand opening Friday. You’ll have to wait a little longer for a taste of the Wolf.
“We’re working on the kitchen and will have a menu that features the fish fry,” says Bennett. “We have the original recipe.”
Hey, ChatGPT: Why did they lock us out of this warehouse?

Most years, Amazon ramps up the hiring ahead of Christmas shopping season.
Not this year. The second biggest private employer in the country announced that it will cut 14,000 corporate staff, and that the number could reach 30,000.
Internal documents show that AI and robots could replace another 600,000 warehouse and order fulfilment workers by 2033.
Amazon has around 1.1 million employees in the U.S.
Ohio ranks 4th in the country with more than 40,000 employees, with 10,000 in Northeast Ohio.

Welcome to their nightmare: The Psychology of Cults
‘Cult’ is a word that gets tossed around lightly these days. Politicians have cult followers. So do bands. Even chefs have them.
Jim Jones was an actual cult leader – one who ruled over followers in Guyana like a tyrant and ultimately led them to death.
At 8 p.m. Thursday, renowned cult interventionist Ashlen Hilliard will hit Connor Palace in Playhouse Square for a deep dive into this twisted world with ‘The Psychology of Cults.”
It looks at Jones, groups like Heaven’s Gate and lesser-known examples to explore why people fall under the spell of madness and conformity. Info.
