Summer’s final flirtation: You have 10 days

Photos courtesy of restaurants/bars featured.

Ten days, then that’s all she wrote for summer. The sun is set to shine the rest of the way. So make the days count with one last patio crawl. Here are our Top Ten:

17 River Grille: It’s like walking into a postcard -- a patio deck that overlooks the picturesque Chagrin Falls and boasts a priceless view.

All Saints Public House: This laid-back leafy patio feels like a park in the city and boasts a vibe that's laid-back yet lively.

The Aviator: Located across from Hopkins, the sprawling patios is perfect for martinis and small plates while watching the planes come and go.

Collision Bend: Located in the 19th-century building that once housed the storied Watermark, it boasts an energetic crowd and timeless views of the Flats.

Don's Pomeroy House: The grove of thick trees and luscious plants amid this mid-19th century mansion feels like a breezy day in some old southern novel. One lemonade, sir.

Forest City Brewery: Ranked one of the top 15 beer gardens in America, it feels like a picnic area in an enchanted forest and a walk into another time.

Guarino's: Dean Martin loved this spot. After all, the patio of this 1918 institution is a deal you can't refuse… an immaculate garden with lights, greenery, flowers and statues.

Merwin's Wharf: This sprawling patio along the Cuyahoga sits amid a unique mix of industry and nature, old bridges and wild greenery. Great views and vibes.

Pier W: The patio feels like the wide deck of a ship, offering what might be the best views of Lake Erie, the downtown skyline and the setting sun.

Vosh/Georgetown: You’ll think you’re lounging around in a park with all the tall trees and brick walls blocking out the noise of Detroit Avenue and the world.

East Side foodie run continues with more openings

Photos courtesy Eton Chagrin

Eton Chagrin has seen restaurants come and go and come again. Just when it loses a high-profile eatery, like Mabel’s in 2024, or Paladar in 2023, another one moves in.

On Wednesday, the collection of boutiques and eateries celebrated the grand opening of Chopt — the fast-casual spot known for its craft-your-own salads, wraps and warm grain bowls.

It follows the opening of Fiamma, Mendel Segal’s restaurant that pairs a rustic vibe with wood-fired 10-inch Neapolitan-style pizzas and inventive takes on Italian staples.

Here comes Nightjar.

The cocktail and jazz bar by Michael Paley and Sam Friedman will mix classic drinks with European café vibes and New Orleans musical flair. It will also roll out small plates, snacks, desserts and coffees.

The focus will be on the elixirs, which you might have experienced if you’ve been to Paley’s stellar Cent’ Anni in Little Italy. Or Friedman’s charming Hangar, in Hingetown.

Nightjar opens this fall. Eton will also welcome Cold Stone Creamery and Planet Smoothie soon.
