Raise a Glass to Summer: Cleveland’s Ultimate Patio Guide
Photos by John Petkovic
Raise a glass to the golden days of summer. Who knows how long they’ll last – so enjoy them while you can
It’s the 2026 Cleveland Patio Guide.
Some spots offer a secluded getaway from the world. Others boast stellar views of the skyline, lake, river, street. Others are an outdoor party stage.
Meteorological mayhem makes us cherish the sunny days, on a patio, with friends, over drinks and food and conversation.
Here are our top five:
Guarino's: Dean Martin loved this spot. After all, the patio of this 1918 institution is a deal you can't refuse… an immaculate garden with lights, greenery, flowers and statues.
Bar 32: The views stir the drink on the 32nd floor of the downtown Hilton -- with stellar shots of the skyline, Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River.
Vosh/Georgetown: You’ll think you’re lounging around in a lush, leafy park with all the tall trees and brick walls blocking out the noise of Detroit Avenue and the world.
Shooters on the Water: Since opening in 1987, the West Bank institution captured the joy of a lazy summer day on the river. A recent renovation has brought a lot more energy (and DJs) to the patio – which is still a fine vantage point for the lake, river and downtown.
Olesia’s Taverne of Richfield: The patio of this circa-1886 building boasts iron gates, greenery, a spacious layout – along with a superb Continental menu and the vibes of a 19th-century novel.

East Coast Excess, Midwest Magic: ‘Great Gatsby’ Closes Playhouse Square’s Blockbuster Season

It’s become short-hand for money, greed, glitz, pizzazz and jazz – not to mention a popular party theme because, well, we’re living through another ‘Roaring’ Twenties.
On Tuesday, the party hits Playhouse Square.
That’s when the first North American tour of the Tony Award-winning musical “The Great Gatsby” opens in Connor Palace. It runs through June 28. Info.
Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic 1925 novel, it follows the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby’s obsessive pursuit of his lost love, Daisy Buchanan, as narrated by the hopeful Midwesterner Nick Carraway amid the lavish parties and emptiness of high society.
After the whole shebang and left disgusted by the East Coast, Nick moves back home.
Ah, like so many Americans now ditching the coasts to scoop up cheap Midwest real estate – prescient!
‘Gatsby’ closes out Playhouse Square ’25-’26 Broadway Series – in which nation’s second-largest performing arts center premiered two shows "The Notebook" and “Hell’s Kitchen” and co-produced the Tony-winning “The Outsiders.”
🎭 What makes 'The Great Gatsby' feel so right for this moment?
$336 Million vs. $88 Million: Guardians Still Own First Place

Go ahead, hate the Yankees. Everyone does it, even the team’s front office when it sees this:
Yankees 2026 team salary: $336,560,197.
After seeing this:
Guardians 2026 team salary: $87,732,387.
Despite making no big moves in the offseason, the Guardians are in first place of their division with the sixth best record in baseball – and right behind the Yankees, who hit Progressive Field tonight for a three-game series..
Internal development has been key:
Rookies: The have three of the top 15 in the MLB: Travis Bazanna, Chase Delauter, Parker Messick.
Improvement: Brayan Rocchio has been the team’s most consistent hitter, clutch and a table setter. Angel Martinez’s defense and power is vastly improved.
Cheap deals: Pitchers Colin Holderman ($1.5 million) and Shawn Armstrong ($5.5 million) have solidified the bullpen.
Bounce-backs: Cade Smith recovered from early struggles and leads MLB in saves and boasts elite strikeout (13.5 K/9) and a 91% conversion rates. José Ramírez and Kyle Manzardo have heated up since abysmal starts.
Suprise, surprise: The infield of Manzardo, Ramirez, Bazanna and Rocchio is one of MLB’s most productive over the last six weeks.
⚾ What's the biggest reason the Guardians are defying the odds in first place?

Beth Hammack 1, Donald Trump 0: CLE Fed Head Emerges as President’s Nemesis
President Trump loves using social media to pump markets – and stepped up again Friday.
“With a great Jobs Report, like just announced, stocks should go up, not down,” he posted at 10:33 a.m. on Truth Social to try and stem a 2% loss in the Nasdaq.
It bounced to recovered 1/5 of its losses in a minutes – until Cleveland Federal Reserve president Beth Hammack hit send on her LinkedIn post:
“The unemployment rate remaining stable at 4.3 percent is right around my definition of full employment. By contrast, inflation is telling a different story. It’s high, moving higher, and I believe persistently high inflation is the bigger concern.”
Translation: If jobs and inflation are rising, the Fed must raise rates.
Down, down, down went the indices, led by a 4.8% drop in the Nasdaq.
Trump tried to pump twice more on the socials -- at 11:37 a.m. and 7:37 p.m. – but the swoon continued even after the 4 p.m. close.
Appointed just two years ago, Hammack is already an influential voice whose hawkish inflation stance puts her at odds with Trump.
